FortiGate 100F end of life: replacement options, prices and support
Fortinet stopped selling the FortiGate-100F and 101F in April 2026 and supports them until April 2031. Both run current FortiOS 7.6. An installed 100F has years of support left; the end of sale matters when you need another unit. The current Fortinet replacement is the FortiGate 120G.
Lifecycle dates
| Variant | End of Sale | Last Date of Support |
|---|---|---|
| FortiGate-100F, 100F-LENC, 100F-USG | 2026-04 | 2031-04 |
| FortiGate-101F, 101F-LENC, 101F-USG | 2026-04 | 2031-04 |
Source: Fortinet hardware lifecycle feed, re-verified weekly on the 100F and 101F family pages. Fortinet partner DataCenter360 gives the exact days: orders closed April 16, 2026; FortiGuard and FortiCare renewals run to April 16, 2030; support ends April 16, 2031. That matches Fortinet's policy of a Last Service Extension Date 12 months before End of Support.
What the FortiGate 100F is
A 1RU next-generation firewall and SD-WAN appliance for a mid-size branch or campus, built on Fortinet's SoC4 processor with dual power supplies. The 101F adds onboard storage.
| Specification | FortiGate 100F |
|---|---|
| Interfaces | 12 x GE RJ45, 2 x GE RJ45 WAN, 4 x RJ45/SFP shared pairs, 4 x GE SFP, 2 x 10G SFP+ FortiLink, management, HA and DMZ ports |
| Firewall throughput | 20 Gbps |
| Concurrent sessions | 1.5 million |
| IPS / NGFW / threat protection | 2.6 Gbps / 1.6 Gbps / 1 Gbps |
| IPsec VPN / SSL-VPN | 11.5 Gbps / 1 Gbps with 500 users |
| SSL inspection | 1 Gbps |
| Managed FortiAPs / FortiSwitches | 128 total (64 tunnel) / 32 |
| Power | Dual AC supplies, 26.5 W average, 29.5 W maximum |
Fortinet has withdrawn the 100F datasheet from its site. These figures are from the specification table on DataCenter360's 100F page, which cites Fortinet's datasheet.
What end of sale means for this unit
- Still fully supported until April 2031. FortiGuard, FortiCare and hardware replacement under contract continue; the last renewal can be bought until April 2030.
- Current firmware. The FG-100F and FG-101F are on the FortiOS 7.6.4 supported-models list.
- No new units. DataCenter360 states new 100F appliances "can no longer be sourced through any channel". A new site, an HA pair partner or a spare now means a used unit or a different model.
Options
| Your situation | Practical path |
|---|---|
| Installed, nothing changing | Keep it under FortiCare; plan replacement before the last renewal in April 2030 |
| Need another unit now, Fortinet | FortiGate 120G, the current model in the same 1RU class |
| Need an HA partner for an existing 100F | A registrable used 100F; Fortinet HA clusters need matching models |
| Other vendor | Palo Alto PA-450 or PA-460; Cisco Meraki MX95 for cloud management |
Fortinet's HA documentation requires FGCP cluster members to be the same model with the same firmware and hardware configuration, so a 100F cannot pair with a 120G. A 101F needs a 101F partner, because the storage differs.

How each option compares with the 100F
- FortiGate 120G. Same: FortiOS 7.6, 1RU, dual supplies, FortiLink SFP+ slots. Different: almost three times the threat protection, twice the IPS, twice the sessions, four FortiLink SFP+ slots instead of two, and support for up to 48 FortiSwitches on FortiOS 7.6.1 and later. The 121G is the storage variant, as the 101F was.
- Palo Alto PA-450 and PA-460. PAN-OS; threat figures measured with all threat features on. Session capacity is far below the 100F's, so size against your real session count, not the threat figure alone.
- Meraki MX95. Cloud-managed with a mandatory licence (Meraki licensing documentation); 2.5G and 10G WAN ports; positioned by Meraki for medium branches.
Migrating from a 100F
- Configuration conversion: FortiConverter's free opt-in licence covers FortiGate-to-FortiGate migration (Fortinet documentation), and both models run FortiOS 7.6.
- Port map: the 120G has no RJ45/SFP shared pairs and four FortiLink slots, so remap shared-pair interfaces explicitly.
- Subscriptions: FortiGuard bundles are model-specific; a 100F renewal does not move to a 120G.

| Item | Seller | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| FortiGate 120G, hardware only (FG-120G) | DataCenter360 (Canada) | CAD 5,545.27 (list CAD 7,884.67) | New, in stock; FortiGuard sold separately |
| FortiGate 100F, used | eBay US, Buy It Now | USD 375.00 to 1,121.32 across 8 listings | The highest-priced listing is described as "Unregistered and Transfer Ready" |
| FortiGate 100F, refurbished | NetworkTigers | Quote only | 365-day warranty; this listing is local management only (not registrable) |
Registrable matters most here. A 100F has years of FortiGuard eligibility left, but only if it can be registered to your FortiCloud account. The spread in the used prices above tracks exactly that: a unit sold as "local management only" cannot take a subscription.
Third-party maintenance
With Fortinet support running to April 2031, third-party maintenance is not yet relevant for a 100F. Third-party maintainers sell hardware cover; none of the pages checked offers FortiGuard signatures or FortiOS fixes (checked 2026-10-06).
Questions
Is the FortiGate 100F end of life?
It reached End of Sale in April 2026 and can no longer be ordered new. Fortinet supports it until April 2031, and it runs current FortiOS 7.6.
What replaces the FortiGate 100F?
The FortiGate 120G is the current Fortinet model in the same 1RU class; the 121G is its storage variant, as the 101F was for the 100F.
Can I still renew FortiGuard on a FortiGate 100F?
Yes, until April 2030, which is 12 months before its April 2031 End of Support under Fortinet's lifecycle policy.
