The Aironet 1850 is an 802.11ac Wave 2 access point with a 4x4 radio driving four spatial streams, rated to 1.7 Gbps on the 5 GHz radio and 2.0 Gbps aggregate across both bands, with multi-user MIMO serving several Wave 2 clients at once. Cisco aimed it at small and mid-sized enterprise networks.
The 1852i model carries internal omni antennas and the 1852e takes external antennas for harder RF environments. A Gigabit PoE uplink pairs with an auxiliary Gigabit port for link aggregation, power comes from 802.3at or 802.3af with reduced radio chains on the lower budget, and it runs controller-less under Mobility Express or joins AireOS and Catalyst 9800 controllers.
