Cisco Catalyst 4500-E Series — End-of-Life & EOSL Dates

The Catalyst 4500-E is a modular campus access chassis in four sizes from three to ten slots, with up to 48 Gbps per slot and room for 388 ports in one system. The seven- and ten-slot chassis run 1+1 redundant supervisors with sub-second failover, in-service software upgrades and 1+1 power redundancy, and line cards deliver PoE+ and UPOE from a budget of up to 1,500W per slot.

Supervisor engines from the 6-E to the 8-E define the system ceiling: the Supervisor 8-E reaches 928 Gbps and 250 Mpps with eight non-blocking 10G SFP+ uplinks, and terminates up to 20 Gbps of wireless traffic on the same UADP silicon as the fixed-configuration Catalysts. Line-card compatibility reaches back to the classic Catalyst 4500 series.

Every tracked Cisco Catalyst 4500-E Series SKU group is past Cisco end of service life (last group Oct 2025). Units in production should be treated as unsupported.
