Cisco Catalyst 3750-X and 3750G end of life: replacement options and prices
Cisco's hardware support for the Catalyst 3750-X ended on October 31, 2021, and its security fixes ended two years earlier, on October 30, 2019. The 3750G and 3750-E ended by January 31, 2018. The last software for the 3750-X is IOS 15.2(4)E10. Cisco now points 3750 owners to the Catalyst 9300; its first 3750-X bulletin named the 3650 and 3850, which have since reached end of life themselves.
Lifecycle dates
| Model | End of Sale | End of security fixes | Last Date of Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Catalyst 3750-X switches (EOL10623) | October 30, 2016 | October 30, 2019 | October 31, 2021 (ended) |
| Catalyst 3750G 1RU models, 3750-E and the rest of the 3750G line (EOL8044) | January 30, 2013 | January 30, 2016 | January 31, 2018 (ended) |
| Catalyst 3750G-24TS-S and -E, 1.5RU (EOL6501) | March 16, 2009 | not in the bulletin | March 15, 2014 (ended) |
Sources: Cisco bulletins EOL10623 (3750-X and 3560-X), EOL8044 (3750G, 3750-E, 3560G, 3560-E) and EOL6501 (3750G-24TS). Part numbers are on the 3750-X, 3750G and 3750-E pages, re-verified weekly.
A 2028 date you may see quoted does not apply to the switches. Cisco's 2023 bulletin EOL14979 gives a Last Date of Support of September 30, 2028, but it covers five licence and software part numbers only, not 3750-X hardware. Some third-party pages also quote January 28, 2021 for the 3750-X; that is Cisco's end of service contract renewal, not the Last Date of Support.
What end of support means here
- No warranty. EOL10623 states: "Cisco hardware warranty support will be discontinued on the Last Date of Support (LDoS)."
- No security fixes since 2019. The End of Vulnerability/Security Support date for 3750-X hardware was October 30, 2019.
- Last software: IOS 15.2(4)E10. Cisco's release notes for 15.2(4)E and later list E1 through E10 and nothing after. Cisco's 3750-X support page reads: "This product is retired and is no longer Supported by Cisco."
What the 3750-X and 3750G are
Stackable 1RU access switches running Cisco IOS. The 3750-X added StackWise Plus, StackPower, PoE+ and UPOE, and modular uplinks; the 3750G was the earlier Gigabit generation.
| Catalyst 3750-X | Catalyst 3750G | |
|---|---|---|
| Ports | 24 or 48 x 10/100/1000 (T, P, PF, U models), or 12 or 24 GE SFP (S models) | 24 x 10/100/1000 plus 4 SFP (24TS models) |
| Stacking | StackWise Plus, 64 Gbps, up to 9 switches; StackPower from 15.0(2)SE | StackWise, 32 Gbps, up to 9 switches, mixing 3750 and 3750-E |
| PoE budget | 435 W on 24P/48P (715 W supply); 800 W on 48PF/24U/48U (1100 W supply) | none on 24TS |
| Uplinks | Network module: 4 x GE (C3KX-NM-1G), 2 x 10G SFP+ (C3KX-NM-10G), 2 x 10GBASE-T (C3KX-NM-10GT) | 4 x SFP |
| Licensing | LAN Base or IP Base, IP Services as an upgrade | see the data sheet |

Options
| Your situation | Practical path |
|---|---|
| Staying with Cisco, routing and modular uplinks needed | Catalyst 9300, the model Cisco's 3750 pages now name |
| Staying with Cisco, plain access switching | Catalyst 9200L: fixed 4 x 1/10G uplinks, StackWise-80 |
| Changing vendor | Aruba CX 6200F or another vendor's stackable access switch |
| Still running 3750s for now | Keep whole spare switches (cheap, see prices) and isolate management access; there are no further fixes from Cisco |
Avoid as a replacement: the Catalyst 3850 and 3650 that EOL10623 named. The copper 3850 models reached their Last Date of Support on October 31, 2025.

Stacking with existing 3750s
No Cisco source says a 9300 or 9200 joins a 3750-X stack. The 9300 data sheet lists only 9300-family switches as stack members, and the 9200 data sheet says it cannot stack with "other Catalyst switches". Plan to replace a stack as a unit, or run the old and new stacks side by side joined by uplinks and move ports across.
Migrating from a 3750-X
- Software: 3750-X runs IOS 15.2; the 9300 and 9200 run IOS XE. Most access configuration carries over by hand, but review each feature against the IOS XE configuration guides rather than pasting the old file.
- Licensing: the 3750-X feature set came with the switch (LAN Base or IP Base). The 9300 needs a Network Essentials or Advantage licence plus a Cisco DNA subscription: "offered in Essentials and Advantage tiers with 3-, 5-, or 7-year terms" (9300 data sheet). Budget the term with the hardware.
- Modules do not move: EOL10623 says the replacement network modules "will not work with the Catalyst 3750X and 3560X switches". Uplink modules are replaced along with the switches.

Third-party maintenance
Park Place's NetSure overview lists the Catalyst 3750 family with 4-hour or next-business-day hardware replacement and remote support. Curvature's guidance names the 3750-X among switches suited to third-party maintenance because their IOS updates are "no longer in development". Neither offers IOS security fixes, and Cisco's ended in 2019, so third-party cover keeps a switch running, not patched.
Questions
Is the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X end of life?
Yes. It reached End of Sale on October 30, 2016, End of Vulnerability/Security Support on October 30, 2019, and its Last Date of Support on October 31, 2021.
